So, Chris and I were talking the other day about my penchant to giving people and animals nicknames. I think I got it from my mom, who was always coming up with nicknames for us. Anything from our initials, to shortened version of our names, to personality characteristics. Of course, these were all terms of endearment, and we thought of them as such.
Here are some of the nicknames I've come up with for Trent.
1. Little T
2. Bud
3. Buddy
4. Momma bebe
5. Mister
6. Mister Baby
7. Sweetums
8. Sweet Pea
9. Mr. Sweetpants
10. Lovie
11. Bub
12. Boo
13. Boo-ba-loo
14. Loo
15. Mi Beppans
16. Mr. Loviepants
17. Bubber Lubber
18. Love Dove
19. Baby Love
I think that's it. I really don't remember the context in which I came up with any of these. I suppose, though, that the really important thing is that Trent know they're all for him, and that they are all given with love.
Life in the Mata house
Come experience life in our house! My name is Korree, and I am a Christian, a mother, wife, sister, aunt and daughter. Chris is my husband of 10 years, and we have a beautiful son named Trent Rayner. We have memories of what life was like before him, although we are forever changed by him.

Frito's for Breakfast
Sometimes, I really feel like I've got it all together. Most days, the house is presentable(at least the bathroom, kitchen and family room), we get to school, daycare and work on time, and I generally cook the meals we're home for. Laundry is at an acceptable level, I've gotten my study time in, we've all eaten balanced meals, and Trent hasn't watched 85 episodes of Go, Diego, Go most weeks.
This week, however, is not one of those. The laundry has currently taken over my bedroom floor, the toilet and bathtub are far overdue for a scrubbing, and our kitchen is still is disarray from the tiling job we've been working on for nearly a month. And I've struggled with it for the past few days, being not-so-nice at times, and trying to get in my jabs where I can, saying the word "no" more times than I care to admit, oftentimes before I even hear the whole question or sentence.
Today, however, I realized, "Who cares?" The laundry I can get done in spurts, the tiling will get done when it's not so crazy at Sonic and Chris can actually do something other than work and sleep, and I'll do the bathroom in between playing with Trent outside, watching Diego videos and taking a nap with him.
So, in light of my new outlook on life, when Trent asked for chips with his juice this morning, I happily obliged. And I even added some bean dip for good measure. Who says you have to say no all the time? Have fun, enjoy life, and especially, enjoy your downtime and your kiddos. The time with them is fleeting; I'm finding this out all too often these days.

Trent-isms
To say I'm in love with my son would be a vast understatement. He is so funny, and some of the things he says just crack me up! Here are a few of them. :)
You yip my coat? This translates in to, "You zip my coat?"(This one's my all-time favorite)
Yebra=zebra
He has a slight obsession with Go, Diego, Go. Therefore, he is Diego, Chris is Deigo Daddy, and I am Diego Mama. Super cute.
He also loves Phineas and Ferb, and he told Chris the other day that he wants a Doofen-cake. For those who don't know, Doofenshmirtz is the villian of that show, and he is constantly trying to take over the Tri-State Area with one "-inator" or another. Every time the show goes to his headquarters, there is a catchy little tune that comes up, and Trent always sings it. Anyhow, it was kind of a toss-up as to what we would use as a theme for his third birthday, and the Doofen-cake comment won us over.
Any time he wants a snack, we offer fruit, cheese, etc., and he always says, "I want sumpin betteh." Sometimes, it's raisins, sometimes it's canny(candy).
Just wanted to get it some funny things my baby says.
I'm working on a post about out updating the kitchen. Hopefully I can get it done and up sometime later this week.
Love to all,
Korree

I'm Fed Up!!
Okay, I'll admit, this is a blog about my weight, but I just have to put it out there, in the open, where I can't hide anymore. I'm fat. Yep, I said it. I weigh more now than I did the day I went in to be induced with Trent. And I'm kind of disgusted with myself. Chris says I'm fine the way I am. Other people say it, too. But I can't wear anything I used to, my back fat looks like mini-boobs(Ick, totally, with a capital I), and I'm hot all the time.
Initially, I blamed the weight gain on starting school again and being stressed. It definitely wasn't the fact that I was shoveling candy down my trap as I wrote anatomically correct terms in my notes. Nevermind that the size Large scrubs I'd bought were getting tighter and tighter. Then it was, "Oh, I've never been on birth control before so I'm sure that's it. My body's just not used to the hormones. I'm on my feet for 8+ hours per day, carhopping and whatnot. And I never sit down at home, always doing something around the house." Yet I eat burgers, fries with chili and cheese, and ice cream nearly every day. Well, I'm there, and it's free, so why not? I'll tell you why not... I'm fat! I feel like doo-doo, my feet hurt ALL. THE. TIME., and my hair is falling out the way it was after I had Trent.
I've had some people say I should get my thyroid checked, but I'm really thinking I should try to lose weight first. Before I got pregnant with Trent, I lost 35 pounds with Weight Watchers. I was the queen of the gym, working out 4-5 days per week, planning out a week's worth of meals, eating lots of salads and mixing up the ingredients, counting points like I was getting medal, and feeling great! I was down to the size I was when Chris and I met. I looked awesome!
So, here's what I'm doing: I'm going to eat a better breakfast every day. Since I have to work in the mornings during the week, I will make my coffee at home(I always do this anyway, but now I will put SF creamer in instead of my beloved Vanilla Caramel), bring my oatmeal with me and then eat some apples or a banana for a snack. If I'm there for lunch, I will eat either a grilled chicken salad or sandwich. Also, the chicken strips aren't all that many points, so I may chop one of those up and put it on my salad. And at night, since we're on a budget big time, I will cook for my family and eat only a small portion and supplement the rest with salad and fruit. I will eat fruit and FF popcorn for snacks and drink only water and diet soda. And I will reward myself with something non-food when I reach my mini-goals.
I will commit to working out once per week. I feel this is about all I can do, especially since we're down an manager, and I am working way more than I used to. I still need to see Trent and Chris a fair amount. Yes, I know I deserve to have more time to myself, but I also need to focus on family time as well. As I slip into this new-ish lifestyle change, I will slowly incorporate more work-out time.
I haven't decided whether I will post my stats for all to see. I think that is kind of a private thing. Maybe I'll post the number of pounds and inches lost per week or something of that nature. If you're the praying kind, please do so for me. Thanks so much!

Holy Hotness!
And, boy, do I wish I was talking about myself... :-)
In all seriousness though, it has been one of the hottest summers my husband or I can remember, and so early even. Every day, it starts out semi-tolerable, in the upper 70's. And then by 11:00 am, we are nearing 100. It's been pretty miserable trying to work and then come home to a house that is nice and cool, and then I realize I have to heat up the kitchen to cook. Ugh...
So, we've been trying to come up with ways to keep Trent and us cool, while entertaining each other. So far, we've come up with visiting splash pads, although I will admit I got burnt to a crisp last week, complete with the flu-like symptoms to accompany it. It was no fun. But soldier on we did. And that included going out to play early and late.
Also, we've taken to coloring, drawing, watching Finding Nemo, Cars and Kidsongs religiously. Trent has also been re-discovering some of his toys. We've reclaimed the Handy Manny Toolbench(which I forgot, is super-fun!), his Fisher Price Barn(always a good time), his kitchen set(he makes me eggs and spaghetti. A winning combination, if you ask me...) and all of his Hotwheels car. Fun times!
What have you all been doing to keep cool?

Study, Plan, Repeat
So, here I am, supposed to be finishing one of the 3 assignments I have due on Tuesday, not to mention, studying for a test I have to have submitted by Monday, and all I can think about are the preparations for Trent's birthday party tomorrow! I cannot wait! He is going to be so happy and cute!
We're going with a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme, and while we had grand plans to make ears for all the guests, things just didn't pan out the way we'd hoped. First off, after posting the step-by-step instructions, my mom went at fever-pitch to churn out one set. And burned the heck out of one of her fingers on some hot glue! Poor Mermus(that's my name for her. I'm weird, and everyone has nicknames)!Anyway, she set to work trying to find another way. And she did! Yea! And we were planning on getting together this morning to work on them. Except we had Trent and Kimber with us, both of whom had been sick and are still are tad sick. With neither of them napping at all, we decided it would be best, for sanity's sake, to just break down and buy them. :( It was between spending $.50 and 15 minutes working on each set of ears, or just buying them for less that $1 apiece. Money and time well-spent, we believe!
I'd better get back to studying, but just wanted to leave you with a few words from Mickey: "Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse!"
P.S. Those are the secret passwords to get into Mickey's clubhouse should you ever find yourself wanting to go there. Ahem. I do quite often.
"It's the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! Come inside, it's fine inside! M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!"

"Stawby" Means Strawberry
I am sitting here this morning thinking about the mountain of things I have to do today, yet what keeps coming to mind is that my little baby will be TWO in a couple of weeks! What the heck? Where has the time gone? Seems like only yesterday, we were driving to the hospital!
I keep thinking about what a long way he's come, as far as developmentally. Whoa! The kid never stops talking! Here are just a few of the things he says on a daily basis(and I will try to type them phonetically, as he speaks them):
Doink = drink
Foinny = funny
Juke = juice
Meelk = milk
Ce-al = cereal
Ous-eye = outside
sheoo = shoe
gickey = mickey
keeesohn = Kidsongs(DVD of kids singing songs that is really annoying to Chris and me, but Trent loves. Also buys me time to separate laundry or take a shower[with the door open, of course])
shee = cheese
tar = guitar
vatra = water(I think he's from Transylvania...)
Tadda = Tanner(our dog)
cubbies = covers
cobby = coming
Those are the main ones. Super cute! And again, I cannot believe the Lord has given us this gift! We both feel so honored to have been given him to keep for God for his time on this Earth. Lord-willing, we will live to see him have children.
